Letter about anonymous job applications - Voir le devoir corrigé

Race equality campaigners are pressing the government to make anonymous CVs compulsory in job applications. This follows research conducted by the Department of Work and Pensions, which found that job applicants whose names suggested British ancestry had a far higher chance of being invited to interview than those than those whose names sounded 'foreign'.

OK, an anonymous CV might improve the chances of someone from an ethnic minority being invited to interview but, if there is prejudice, they are likely to be rejected as soon as they walk into the interview room. So if we start seeing statistics indicating that the interview failure rate is higher for those from an ethnic background, we will know the reason why.
